Leif Eriksson Synopsis
In the year of 1000 A.D. the oceans were
dominated by the Vikings with their swift Ships. Erik the Red and his son
Leif Eriksson lived in Greenland. However they often visited and traded in
countries of Northern Europe. Once when returning to Greenland Leif sails
into a storm and is carried away hundreds of miles west of Greenland. In
order to orient himself Leif climbs the mast of the Ship. He sees a new
Land.
Back in Greenland Leif meets his girlfriend
Solveig. Leif’s best friend Ragnar is also in love with Solveig. Leif goes
away to Norway to serve in the guard of King Olaf. When Leif returns he
finds that Solveig has married Ragnar his best friend. This gives Leif time
to reflect over life and to prepare an expedition to the land he saw in the
winter-storm.
Leif and his men arrive in Labrador in mid
summer and ran into two different Indian tribes, one friendly and one
hostile. Soon the Vikings are at war with the hostile tribe. After several
years of fighting the Vikings are driven away from the territory. History
now makes a hold for 500 years, waiting for Christopher Columbus.
