LIFE AIN’T EASY FOR A MAN NAMED SUE
Story by. Keith Lewis
Written by: Keith Lewis
The West gets wilder than ever in this rousing,
shoot-em-up saga of unforgivable betrayal, savage retribution and
bittersweet redemption. In this gritty, action-packed adventure, bounty
hunter SUE Anderson must confront his most-hated and deadliest prey, a
former Texas Ranger gone bad: his father.
Growing up in the West Texas town of Ysleta, strapping, sinewy Sue
Anderson bears the scars of his “profession” – bounty hunter. But his least
visible yet deepest scar refuses to heal. It’s as if he’s lived his entire
life under a dark cloud even more shameful than having been “branded” at
birth with the girlish name that has turned him into a force to be reckoned
with…
When Sue was just a boy, his father, John Anderson, shot up a town,
ran off with a fortune in loot he was sworn to protect and massacred scores
of innocent men, women and children. Since that day, Sue and his mother
Annabelle have lived in guilt and disgrace – except for the protection and
love of John Anderson’s fellow Texas Ranger Mack Vaughan, who subsequently
became sheriff of the town and helped raise Sue as if he were his very own
son. Loyal to the end, Annabelle refuses to speak ill of her husband, but
once his mother passes away, Sue swears to hunt down and kill the man he
believes is responsible for destroying both their lives.
So begins Sue Anderson’s obsessive, relentless quest to apprehend the most
dangerous adversary he has ever faced. Armed with raw courage, his father’s
once-prized pistols, the backing of Sheriff Vaughan and years of pent-up
loathing and resentment, Sue sets off to track down the elusive outlaw/mass
murderer whose blood runs in his own veins. Along the way, he spends some
time at the AA Ranch in Mills Canyon, New Mexico, where he and his
beautiful, longtime love Diantha Cody, share a wildly passionate, though
all-too-brief reunion that will bear precious fruit in the months to come
and raise the stakes in ways Sue cannot even imagine.
Meanwhile, intent in the pursuit of his dad, Sue is unaware that he
himself is being stalked by Lucky Johnson, a psychotic, bloodthirsty outlaw
whom Sue presumes is dead but is very much alive – though somewhat worse for
wear after their most recent encounter. Months go by as Sue follows numerous
leads and finally winds up in the town of Folsom in the Dakota Territory.
His search is nearing its end. But his real struggle is just beginning. Yes,
broken, morphine-addicted John Anderson has been on the run for over 25
years, but not for the reasons Sue has always assumed were true. Before the
story ends, Sue will discover that the person he has always trusted the most
has betrayed him with an unspeakable act of treachery and deceit. And the
fall out from that heinous crime will culminate in an explosive battle that
will shake Sue to his core and force him to make a seemingly impossible
choice that could alter his fate for generations to come.
